JulieAnn Graham, a dancer, educator at Columbia College Chicago, and yoga and meditation teacher is offering a free mindfulness course on Mondays from 6-8 pm CT on Zoom starting January 25th and running through May 10th. The premise of the course is that every effort we put forth in the world is art if done in mindfulness and love, not just what we call "art" in our society.
- Each class begins with a small yoga practice that can be done on the floor or in a chair, to ready our bodies to sit in stillness.
- During the course, we will explore various mindfulness and meditation exercises (some of which will be in movement) to bring us into a deep place of presence, play, and awareness.
- As we become more familiar with these practices, we will investigate how to bring mindfulness and meditation practice to our artistry, or our work and daily life.
This course is happening in conjunction with students and faculty at Columbia College Chicago, but anyone from the ALTAR community is welcome to participate in whatever way is comfortable for you. You could be all in, participating in break-out rooms with your video on, or just soak it in and work along in your space with video off. Just know that your presence is welcome and will be felt.
